Cynthia Lawhorn Williams

CEO

Cynthia Williams joined the Community Foundation of Northern Kentucky as CEO in August 2011. Williams had been vice president and in house counsel for Cardinal Hill Healthcare System since 2002. Cardinal Hill Healthcare System includes a 108-bed rehab hospital, a 30-bed skilled nursing facility, two outpatient centers and home health & equipment service. As part of her responsibilities, she served as the Executive Director of Cardinal Hill of Northern Kentucky. Those services became part of the
Community Foundation of Northern Kentucky in July 2011. At Cardinal Hill, she had responsibility for establishing the 31-bed long term acute care hospital (LTACH) in Ft. Thomas. She served as compliance and HIPAA advisor and provided legal advice to all system entities and represented the system in regulatory matters. Previously, she served as senior manager, risk and advisory services for KPMG.

Williams is a magna cum laude graduate of Bellarmine College and holds her JD from University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law. She has published several articles and presented professional papers on many health care topics. She is a licensed attorney for the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Other certifications include CHE from American College of Healthcare Executives and Diplomate of American College of Medical Practice Executives.

Lisa West

Executive Director, Community Services of Northern Kentucky

Lisa West was named Executive Director of Community Services of Northern Kentucky in 2011. Community Services includes Adult Day Care of Northern Kentucky and Speech and Hearing of Northern Kentucky. These organizations, formerly known as Cardinal Hill of Northern Kentucky, became part of the Community Foundation of Northern Kentucky in July 2011. She is responsible for the day-to-day operations of Community Services of Northern Kentucky, including adult day care, Saturday respite care and hearing aid services.

West was promoted to her new role after holding the positions of operations director, adult day care director and administrative director. She has been part of the organization since 1998. Previously, West served as emergency room operations director at Good Samaritan Hospital.

West attended Cincinnati State Technical and Community College and the Bethesda Hospital School of Nursing. She is also a certified trainer for the Northern Kentucky Training Coalition, training staff who work with disabled adults in crisis prevention. West is a member of National Adult Day Services Association, Kentucky Association of Adult Day Centers and Kentucky Association for Gerontology. She is also a member of the local Human Rights Committee and the Council on Aging.  West is a member of the Leadership Northern Kentucky Class of 2013 and a member of the Kentucky Colonels.

West has been a resident of Florence, KY. for the past 23 years with her husband and three sons, and is an active volunteer in the Boone County Schools and Northern Kentucky University.

Vickie Henderson

Executive Director, Northern Kentucky Children's Advocacy Center

Vickie Henderson has worked in the field of child abuse treatment for 20 years. She began her social work career at St. Luke Hospitals and then became executive director of NKYCAC while it was still part of The St. Luke Hospitals. She has continued in that role under the Community Foundation of Northern Kentucky.

Henderson was the first forensic interviewer employed by a children’s advocacy center in Kentucky, and has interviewed more than 4,000 children in her career. Under her leadership, the NKYCAC was the first children’s advocacy center in Kentucky to earn national accreditation from the National Children’s Alliance. She is a former president of the Kentucky Association of Children’s Advocacy Centers and a member of the Kentucky Multidisciplinary Commission on Child Sexual Abuse. She has lobbied and testified before the state legislature and written children’s advocacy center-related state statutes. Henderson was one of the founding center directors who drafted legislation that defined children’s advocacy centers in the state and created administrative regulations for centers in Kentucky. She conducts reviews of other children’s advocacy centers as a site reviewer for the National Children’s Alliance and provides frequent training to children’s advocacy centers and professionals throughout the state and around the country.

Henderson received the Horowitz-Barker Professional Leadership Award from the National Children's Alliance in 2012 and was a finalist in the Community Outreach catagory for the 2013 Healthcare Heroes.

She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from Northern Kentucky University and a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Kentucky. She is a licensed clinical social worker, and a member of the National Association of Social Workers. She also serves as an educational presenter at Beech Acres in Cincinnati, Ohio, and a former adjunct professor at both Northern Kentucky University and the University of Kentucky.

Julie Budden, CFRE

Director of Development and Media Relations

Julie Budden joined the Community Foundation of Northern Kentucky as Director of Development and Media Relations in September 2012. She is responsible for fund raising, volunteer relations, public/press relations and marketing for the Foundation and the entities for which it is the financial steward – The Northern Kentucky Children’s Advocacy Center, Women’s Health of Northern Kentucky, and Community Services Adult Day Care of Northern Kentucky and Audiology & Hearing Aid Services.

Budden is a Certified Fund Raising Executive and has over 17 years of fund raising and marketing experience in higher education. She served at Northern Kentucky University as a Director of Development/Major Gifts Officer for eight years and previously was the Director of Development for eight years for the College of Engineering at the University of Cincinnati. She has also served as Educational Consultant and Project Manager for College View, and Assistant Director of Admissions for Muskingum University in New Concord, Ohio. She is also a graduate of the 2007 Leadership Northern Kentucky class and is a Kentucky Colonel. 

Budden holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the College of Wooster, and a Certificate in Fundraising Management from the Center of Philanthropy in Indianapolis, Indiana. 

Mary Brzinski

Accounting Manager

Mary Brzinski joined the Community Foundation as accounting manager in November 2012. In this role, she administers and performs all financial and accounting reporting activities, including monitoring payroll, payables and receivables performed by facility staff.

She had previously served as business manager for St. Catherine of Siena Parish in Ft. Thomas, Kentucky since 2006, and business manager at St. Philip Parish in Melbourne since 2010. She also provides accounting services for The Life Learning Center in Covington.

Mary enjoys volunteering and serving.  She has been on one international mission trip to Belize and two mission trips to assist the victims of Hurricane Katrina (in New Orleans and Mississippi).  Mary has also volunteered for two local mission trips to help those in need in Northern Kentucky.  She consistently volunteers her time to the Rose Garden Home Mission, Rose Garden Center for Hope and Healing and the St. Augustine Parish Center.

Mary holds a Bachelor’s Degree in statistics from Utah State University in Logan, Utah, and CPA certification from the University of Illinois.

 

Deana Combs

Patient Billing Coordinator and Tank PROJECT RAMP Coordinator

Deana started with Cardinal Hill as the Center Biller in November 2010. She has over 20 years of Medical Billing and Insurance experience as well as Account Management and Supervisory experience. She has taken on additional tasks since the change to Community Foundation in July 2011. These new responsibilities include accounts payable, medical billing for the Northern Kentucky Children's Advocacy Center and Community Services, scheduling for Community Services and audiology support with minor repairs to hearing aids. Most recently, Deana became the PROJECT RAMP Coordinator for the TANK fund which provides financial assistance to individuals that utilize the RAMP van service of the Transit Authority of Northern Kentucky (TANK).

Deana has served as a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity, League for Animal Welfare and the Northern Kentucky Children’s Advocacy Center. She also owns and rehabs investment properties with her husband. She enjoys boating, spending time with family, friends, and her three dogs.  She was born and raised in Campbell County and has resided in Kenton County for the past 20 years.     

Deana holds a Certificate in Management from Xavier University and a Certificate in Insurance from The Insurance Institute of America.
