The Northern Kentucky Children's Advocacy Center's facility is located in Boone County in Florence, Kentucky, convenient to the heart of the Northern Kentucky population growth. The location of NKCAC provides easy access to rural counties.
In 2007, a $1,000,000 Federal Community Block Grant was awarded to the cities of Florence and Ft. Thomas on behalf of the Northern Kentucky Children’s Advocacy Center for the construction of a new facility. The remaining cost of the new structure is being paid for through donations to the Community Foundation of Northern Kentucky Children’s Advocacy Center Building Fund. Approximately $1.5 million in additional funds is needed to complete payment of the center.
In April 2009, a 5000+ square foot building for the NKCAC was opened at 4890 Houston Road, Florence, KY 41042. This facility includes medical examination rooms, two victim interview and observation rooms, therapy rooms, reception and waiting areas, family meeting areas, conference areas, etc.
The new center has been designed to be child-friendly, safe and inviting for children. Children have been the focal point of the entire project by ensuring that the exterior and interior design of the facility is welcoming to children. Providing children an environment that is safe, warm, comforting, inviting and culturally diverse is imperative because it allows children the opportunity to talk about what has happened and take that first step toward healing and recovery from the horrific effects of child abuse.
In summary, the NKCAC facility fully embraces the mission of the center: focusing on the well being of the child by providing an opportunity to assist and support the key professionals who dedicate themselves to the protection of children. |
